Wellington's Greatest Deed
Wellington City Mission was building a new home for the homeless: Whakamaru. But completing it required funding. So instead of asking for donations, we did something a little...bigger.
Wellington's Greatest Deed turned a billboard into a live, living document – a 7m tall deed that anyone could sign simply by donating to the build.
The project was kicked off by New Zealand legend and all round good sort Sir Ashley Bloomfield, who abseiled down to sign on behalf of donors. Getting front-page and prime-time exposure for the cause. And helping every spot on the deed to be filled – and Whakamaru to open its doors, debt free.
The larger-than-life document will soon take pride of place within Whakamaru itself, recognising all 1,256 joint home owners.
“I feel incredibly grateful to have been part of the City Mission’s activation, Wellington’s Greatest Deed. I may not love heights, but I’m happy to live with a bit of fear for such a great cause” — Sir Ashley Bloomfield
